The University of Balochistan organized a one-day seminar titled “Agricultural Transformation through Youth Engagement in Balochistan: Enhancing the Impact of Kitchen Gardening Program/Study 13.”*

The event was graced by the esteemed Governor of Balochistan and Chancellor of the University, Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, as the chief guest.In his address, Governor Balochistan commended the University of Balochistan for its efforts in encouraging youth to play an active role in sustainable agriculture and environmental conservation. He emphasized that kitchen gardening is a significant step toward self-reliance, food security, and promoting an eco-friendly lifestyle. He urged students to adopt kitchen gardening at home, noting that such initiatives not only help address food scarcity but also play a vital role in creating a greener environment.Vice Chancellor of the University of Balochistan, Professor Dr. Zahoor Ahmed Bazai, welcomed the chief guest, speakers, faculty members, and students from various universities. In his speech, he highlighted the critical need for research, innovation, and youth participation to promote agriculture in Balochistan. He praised the collaborative efforts of the University of Balochistan, the European Union’s “Revival of Balochistan Water Resources Program,” the International Water Management Institute (IWMI), and the Faculty Training and Development Centre.Guest speakers, including Vice Chancellor of BUITEMS University, Professor Dr. Khalid Hafeez, and Dr. Muhammad Ashraf, Deputy Country Director of IWMI, delivered detailed presentations on sustainable water use, modern agricultural practices, and the role of youth in innovative research.The seminar saw enthusiastic participation from students and faculty of the University of Balochistan, BUITEMS University, and Sardar Bahadur Khan Women’s University. Students showcased their kitchen gardening projects and highlighted their social and environmental impacts.At the conclusion of the event, the chief guest, Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, along with other dignitaries, distributed certificates and shields to students and researchers who demonstrated outstanding performance in kitchen gardening and related research activities.Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Zahoor Ahmed Bazai expressed gratitude to the European Union and all collaborating institutions, stating that such academic and research initiatives not only promote sustainable agriculture but also empower youth to contribute effectively to Balochistan’s social and economic development.The event concluded with expressions of gratitude to participants and organizers, along with a renewed commitment to a greener and sustainable future for Balochistan.
