Under the auspices of the Pakistan Constitution Protection Movement and at the invitation of Mahmood Khan Achakzai, an All Parties Conference (APC) was held in Islamabad, attended by representatives of political parties nationwide. The conference expressed deep concern over the country’s current constitutional, political, and economic situation and strongly condemned government actions, particularly the Islamabad administration’s attempt to change the conference venue, which was deemed an attack on civil rights.
Key points and demands included:
Condemnation of ongoing fascism and political revenge in the country, calling for the immediate release of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi from illegal detention, and rejecting kangaroo court verdicts against political opponents.
Consensus among all political parties to draft a new Charter of Democracy emphasizing the 1973 Constitution, supremacy of Parliament, rule of law, judicial independence, appointment of an independent Election Commission, and fair elections. It also addressed provincial issues, media freedom, rights of women and minorities, and foreign relations.
Highlighting the situation in Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and tribal areas, demanding immediate presentation of illegally detained persons before courts and full restoration of local population rights.
Call for the establishment of a Truth and Reconciliation Commission to review past events truthfully and acknowledge political mistakes.
Fair distribution of water resources, constitutional recognition of Gilgit-Baltistan as a full province, and protection of federal units’ rights.
Political differences to be regarded as democratic diversity, and cessation of retaliatory actions against political opponents.
Full guarantee of media freedom and condemnation of restrictions on journalists.
Protection of women’s and minority rights, and measures to end oppression through jirgas and traditional systems.
Support for Pakistan’s sovereignty in international relations, recognition of Israel as a global war criminal, and strong condemnation of genocide against Muslims in Palestine.
This statement was issued as a comprehensive and united strategy for restoring constitutional democracy and safeguarding the rights of the people in Pakistan.
