Quetta- According to officials, a suicide blast after the rally of Balochistan National Party (BNP) Mengal in Quetta has so far resulted in the deaths of 16 people and injuries to 31 others.The blast occurred immediately after the rally ended, near a white vehicle, causing multiple casualties. Among the injured, a young man named Zaman Baloch told the media that he was waiting for his friend when suddenly a powerful explosion took place, injuring his leg severely. Zaman said that after the blast, he saw many wounded people lying on the ground, crying out for help.Agha Hassan Baloch, Central Secretary of Information for BNP, said the explosion happened close to Nawab Niaz Zehri’s vehicle, in which his personal guards were also killed.Additional Chief Secretary Home Balochistan, Hamza Shafqat, stated in a press conference that the Saryab incident was out of control and could not be prevented. He added that the rally organizers were asked three times to end the event but were not taken seriously. The attacker was under 30 years old and his identity remains unknown. He clarified that if the blast had occurred inside the rally venue, the damage would have been much greater.Governor Balochistan Sheikh Jafar Khan Mandokhel and Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti visited the injured and instructed that all necessary facilities be provided.The Army Chief, President, Prime Minister, Balochistan Bar Council, all political parties, civil society, human rights organizations, and the Iranian and German consulates strongly condemned the incident and expressed deep sorrow over the fatalities.All political parties in Balochistan have announced a three-day mourning period in protest against this tragic incident.
