Islamabad, At least 23 individuals, including Pakistani security personnel, were killed in intense border clashes with Afghan forces, Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported. The military’s media wing confirmed that Pakistani forces destroyed 21 Taliban outposts during the skirmishes. The ISPR issued a stern statement, urging the Taliban government in Afghanistan to take immediate and effective measures to dismantle extremist groups such as Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and ISIS operating from its soil. The statement emphasized that Pakistan’s security forces would continue operations against militants to safeguard the nation’s sovereignty.The clashes, marked by heavy exchanges of fire and the use of advanced weaponry, occurred at multiple points along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. Afghan Taliban forces claimed responsibility for the deaths of Pakistani security personnel, escalating tensions between the two neighbors. In response, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif vowed a robust retaliation against what he termed “provocative actions.”Following the violence, the Friendship Gate at Chaman, a key border crossing in Balochistan, has been closed to all traffic until further notice, disrupting cross-border movement.
