A massive protest rally was held in Zhob against the integration of Levies into the police, illegal land allotment, and rising security concerns. The rally, which passed through various routes of Zhob, culminated in a grand public gathering at Zareef Shaheed Park. Leaders from all political parties addressed the assembly, voicing their opposition to these issues.
The event was chaired by Reza Muhammad Reza Lala, a central leader of the Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party. It saw large participation from political, religious, and nationalist parties along with the public. All speakers rejected the government’s move to merge Levies into police, condemned illegal land allotments, and highlighted serious security issues. Hafiz Hazrat Gul from Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam presented the resolutions.
At the conclusion of the rally, five unanimous resolutions were adopted, including:
Provincial Levies force should not be merged into the police.
Balochistan Constabulary should remain headquartered in its district; transfers to other cities should stop.
FC check posts around Zhob city should be removed immediately.
Opposition to the Mine and Mineral Bill and protection of local resources’ rights as per the 18th amendment.
Immediate action to end growing lawlessness, thefts, and other crimes in the city.
These resolutions were promptly approved by the demonstrators, emphasizing the community’s clear stance against the government’s initiatives compromising local autonomy and security.
This protest aligns with the wider Balochistan opposition to the controversial plan of integrating Levies into police, which recent court rulings have also challenged, highlighting deep political and legal complexities surrounding the issue.
