A groundbreaking milestone has been achieved in the treatment of heart diseases in Balochistan, as the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Suliman Institute of Cardiology Quetta successfully performed the region’s first TAVI (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation) operation. Typically costing between 4.5 to 5 million PKR, this critical procedure is now being offered completely free of charge.
Dr. Huma Naeem Tareen, Head of Cardiology, led the complex surgery with the expert supervision of Professor Asad Akbar Khan, a renowned interventional cardiologist from Shifa International Hospital Islamabad. The successful completion of this operation marks a significant advancement in medical care within the province.
This achievement stands as a testament to the visionary leadership of the Commandant, paving the way for the availability of advanced medical facilities in Balochistan. Not only will this development benefit heart patients across the province, but it also promises to make high-cost cardiac treatments accessible nationwide.
