Quetta: A fresh polio vaccination campaign will begin in Balochistan on July 28, aiming to protect over 585,000 children between the ages of 4 and 59 months from the virus.
The one-week drive will run until August 4, covering 123 high-risk union councils in Quetta, Pishin, Chaman, Killa Abdullah, Zhob, Dukki, and Dera Bugti.
Health workers will administer both fIPV injections and oral polio drops (OPV) to strengthen children’s immunity. A total of 1,835 vaccination teams will participate.
According to health experts, the fIPV vaccine is especially effective for children suffering from malnutrition or repeated illnesses.
EOC Balochistan Coordinator Dr. Inam ul Haq urged parents to get their children vaccinated, calling the vaccine safe and effective. Strict security arrangements have also been made to protect vaccination teams.
