Zhob (Asad Khan Kakar): Under the leadership of Haji Muhammad Hussain Shirani, the Zhob and Shirani All Parties Action Committee, comprising political, social, and tribal elders, convened a jirga at the Municipal Park. The jirga was held to formulate a joint strategy against the government’s recent decision to merge the Balochistan Levies Force into the police.
Representatives from various political parties of Zhob and Shirani, tribal elders, and social leaders participated in large numbers. Speakers addressing the jirga strongly condemned the government’s move, labeling it a conspiracy against tribal and local autonomy and long-standing peace and security arrangements.
The participants praised the Levies Force for its historic services, sacrifices, and role in maintaining peace and justice in tribal areas. They reaffirmed their commitment to protecting the force.
The jirga unanimously resolved to adopt all possible constitutional and democratic measures to defend tribal traditions, local identity, and the Levies system. They also decided to raise the issue at the highest levels.
