Press Statement:
The Chairman Nazir Ahmad Leghari, General Secretary Naimatullah Kakar, and members of the Cabinet and Executive of the Administrative Officers Staff Association have issued a joint statement expressing deep concern over the ongoing financial difficulties faced by the University of Balochistan. They stated that the University, being the largest educational institution in the province, has been serving the entire region by providing skilled human resources to various government sectors. Despite this vital role, the institution has been grappling with a financial crisis for the past five years, and unfortunately, the provincial government has not shown seriousness in resolving the issue.

The Vice Chancellor of the University has formally informed the provincial government in writing about the financial challenges and risks involved. We appreciate this step and urge the Government of Balochistan, especially the Chief Minister, to announce a special financial package to address the university’s urgent needs, ensuring timely salaries for staff and continuous funding for libraries, laboratories, and research activities.

The primary objective of the university is to promote knowledge and research, which requires consistent financial support. Furthermore, we strongly oppose the proposed pay scale deductions under the “Uniform Pay Scale Policy,” as the allowances currently granted are legally approved by the university’s statutory bodies. Any attempt to remove these allowances will face strong protests from our association.

We call upon the government to take immediate and effective measures to restore financial stability to the University of Balochistan for the benefit of the province and its people.
