Governor Balochistan, Jafar Khan Mandokhel, expressed deep concern over the increasing trend of drug abuse and the use of other harmful substances. He stated that eradicating drug production and usage is a shared responsibility of the government and society. Addressing the participants at a drug burning ceremony held at Pegasus club in Quetta, he highlighted that education and awareness are key components in the fight against drugs. The Governor urged strict measures against drugs at educational institutions, involving university vice-chancellors and school heads to play a critical role. He noted the alarming rise in drug use among youth, threatening their creativity and the future of the nation. He called for coordinated action by the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) and other agencies to eliminate drugs from markets and remote cultivation areas. Emphasizing community cooperation, he declared that the elimination of drug abuse is a fundamental struggle, requiring united efforts through consultation and understanding. The Governor reaffirmed the government’s commitment to eradicating this menace and appreciated international partners’ support. The ceremony concluded with the Governor pressing a button to burn a large quantity of seized drugs, symbolizing a strong stand against this common enemy.
