At a press conference held at Quetta Press Club, Sajid Tarin Advocate, Senior Vice President of Balochistan National Party (BNP), strongly condemned the government’s illegal travel ban imposed on party leader Sardar Akhtar Jan Mengal. He accused the government of silencing Mengal’s voice under establishment pressure, similar to failed attempts by Musharraf.
Sajid Tarin criticized Islamabad’s attitude towards Baloch daughters and mothers, highlighting the government’s unwillingness to listen to Baloch grievances. The event was attended by senior BNP leaders including Deputy Secretary General Malik Naseer Shavani, Secretary Information Agha Hasan Baloch, and others.
He stated that an undeclared martial law is in effect in Balochistan and stressed that the bogus cases against Akhtar Mengal and his family are attempts to harass them due to their activism for missing persons and oppressed people of Balochistan. He also noted that BNP has challenged the travel ban in high court and vowed to continue raising their voice against oppression despite such fabricated cases.
Sajid Tarin further criticized opposition parties for speaking up for Baloch causes while in opposition but bowing before the establishment once in power. He emphasized BNP’s principled stance, mentioning the expulsion of two senators over the 26th amendment issue, and affirmed that BNP under Akhtar Mengal’s leadership will persist in its struggle for justice in Balochistan
